The Virginia Tech football team is well-positioned for the 2024 season. Kyron Drones, Collin Schlee and Pop Watson are currently in the quarterback room, and incoming freshman Davi Belfort will join this summer. After this season, there are some questions about who will be in Blacksburg, and head coach Brent Pry is preparing for the future in the class of 2025.

The Hokies currently have signal caller Kelden Ryan from DeSoto, Texas, and Virginia Tech is currently in the running for two quarterbacks from that class, hosting one of the two newcomers last weekend after hosting the other in the spring.

Three-star quarterback AJ Brand visited Blacksburg last weekend, and you have to assume he’s become a priority for Pry and offensive coordinator Tyler Bowen. The 20th-best player in the class of 2024 in the state of South Carolina, according to 247Sports, Brand threw for nearly 3,000 yards and 45 touchdowns last fall. He added 1,113 rushing yards and 17 more touchdowns.

In April, Malik Washington, a four-star quarterback from Severn, Maryland, was “very excited” about Virginia Tech after a visit during the Hokies spring game and visited Syracuse last weekend as one of the other teams heavily recruiting for Archbishop Spalding’s talent. He also had a visit to Maryland scheduled in two weeks.

Washington is set to commit next month, according to officials, while Brand’s decision is expected this summer as the Hokies are in the running. Will either choose Virginia Tech? That remains to be seen, but both are outstanding talents who would immediately compete with Watson and Belfort for the job.
