PHOENIX (AZFamily) — New Phoenix Suns head coach Mike Budenholzer completes his coaching staff and brings years of basketball experience with him.

Former University of Washington coach Mike Hopkins has agreed to a contract to become an assistant coach with the Suns, according to ESPN sources.

The other coaches on Budenholzer’s current team are David Fizdale and Chad Forcier.

Hopkins brings several years of experience to the team. He coached the Washington Huskies for seven seasons and has more than 30 years of college basketball experience.

Hopkins had an overall record of 118-106 with Washington, including a PAC-12 conference title and an NCAA Tournament appearance in 2019. He was an assistant on Jim Boeheim’s coaching staff at Syracuse for 22 years.

He also gained experience coaching NBA players during his time at USA Basketball.
