AI solutions expanded across the portfolio to strengthen digital resilience

SAN FRANCISCO & LAS VEGAS, June 12, 2024–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Splunk, the leader in cybersecurity and observability, today introduced a set of AI tools across its product portfolio to help organizations accelerate routine tasks and gain insights from data faster. Splunk’s generative AI-powered assistants can help any user become a security and observability expert.

Splunk has expanded its AI capabilities with new generative AI assistants in Observability Cloud and Security, providing customers with enhanced IT visibility and enhanced proactive threat prevention capabilities. The company also made its Splunk AI Assistant for SPL generally available, which helps customers derive insights from Splunk using natural language. In addition, Splunk introduced new AI capabilities for IT Service Intelligence (ITSI), including Configuration Assistant, which aims to streamline configuration processes and optimize operational efficiency, as well as drift detection for KPIs and adaptive entity-level thresholds for more accurate detection.

Accelerate investigations and improve their effectiveness with new AI assistants in Observability Cloud and Security

The AI ​​Assistant in Observability Cloud introduces a generative AI-powered capability designed to streamline discovery, exploration, and investigation for development teams with a natural language interface. By analyzing metrics, traces, and logs, the AI ​​Assistant helps software developers and site reliability engineers (SREs) quickly gain valuable insights to accelerate their daily tasks, root cause analysis, and problem resolution. This removes roadblocks and reduces the expertise required to resolve issues, makes troubleshooting and data exploration more accessible, and increases operational efficiency.

Splunk also introduced AI Assistant in Security, designed to accelerate security analysts’ investigations and daily workflows by leveraging generative AI capabilities. It streamlines the investigation process with analyst guidance and aggregates incident data. By providing AI-powered guidance for security workflows and generating the security-specific Splunk Search Processing Language (SPL), investigations and response times are accelerated, enabling analysts to strengthen defenses against evolving threats through simplified processes and improved efficiency.

Splunk AI Assistant for SPL accelerates data understanding

Splunk AI Assistant for SPL helps customers interact with Splunk’s data analytics platform in natural language, bridging the gap between human intuition and machine-driven analysis. This innovative tool enables analysts to perform complex natural language analysis, understand existing Splunk Processing Language (SPL) queries with step-by-step explanations, and search product documentation for answers to questions.

By translating between natural language and SPL queries, Splunk AI Assistant improves analyst productivity and decision-making efficiency. It also enables organizations to optimize their data analysis and incident response, setting them up for success in today’s data-driven world.

Advanced AI in IT Service Intelligence (ITSI)

Splunk recently introduced a configuration assistant for its IT Service Intelligence (ITSI) solution at Cisco Live. It uses advanced AI and machine learning capabilities to manage and optimize configurations and proactively provides insights into the health of ITSI knowledge objects such as KPIs, services, and entities. It provides a central console to help IT administrators maintain accurate alerting by providing insight into outdated threshold models and optimizing them with guided remediation, giving them a more accurate view of the health of their IT and reducing false positives.

Splunk is also introducing two new features at ITSI: Drift Detection for KPIs and Entity-Level Adaptive Thresholds. Drift Detection for KPIs helps users identify potential problems early by showing KPIs that exhibit gradual changes or sudden deviations from normal patterns. In addition, Splunk’s Entity-Level Adaptive Thresholds enables users to create dynamic entity-level baselines and generate alerts when they behave abnormally. Both features are in public preview.

Product availability

AI Assistant in Observability Cloud is now available in private preview. AI Assistant in Security will be available in private preview in August 2024. Splunk AI Assistant for SPL is now generally available to Splunk Cloud Platform customers using AWS worldwide. IT Service Intelligence (ITSI) and its Configuration Assistant feature are generally available, with drift detection for KPIs and adaptive entity-level thresholds in public preview.
