Avengers: Endgame (2019) marked the departure of several major Avengers of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), including Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man/Tony Stark, who sacrificed himself for the greater good, and Chris Evans’ Captain America/Steve Rogers, who retired and handed over his iconic vibranium shield to Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson/Falcon.

The upcoming Captain America film seems to pick up where the 2021 Disney+ series Falcon and the Winter Soldier stopped, while Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan) is on his way to overcoming his HYDRA past and Sam Wilson fully embraces his role as Captain America.

Since the new Cap will both redefine and continue the Captain America theme, it’s clear that this new Cap movie (and its presumed sequels or follow-ups) will see a bit of a change “under new management.”

With Sam Wilson, the all-human and now former Falcon, stepping into the shoes of Steve Rogers’ super-soldier serum-treated role, the scope of the film may need to change in a similar way – at least for now, as the character is still establishing itself.

Now, according to a well-known anonymous source, Insider My Time To Shine Hello comes with some news that might disappoint fans of the Doctor Strange franchise, the more interconnected Marvel story, and the Multiverse Saga as a whole.

Although it was previously reported that Benedict Wong’s Wong (the current Sorcerer Supreme via Benedict Cumberbatch’s Stephen Strange/Doctor Strange) will take part in the action in Beautiful new worldit seems that Marvel is opting against having Wong as the star of the series, cutting one of the last remaining Avengers from the storyline.

On X/Twitter, the inside source quoted her own previous post confirming that Disney was reportedly pulling Wong from the new Captain America movie, refuting the earlier scoop that was also confirmed by Atlanta Filming, a paparazzo based in Atlanta where many projects are shot:

Well I watched it and no Wong in Captain America: Brave New World 🙁

The move away from Wong references seems to be a conscious move by Disney and Marvel to reduce the interconnectedness of the Marvel projects of late. Disney has pushed to keep the films separate, believing that fans are getting “tired” of having to watch every single Marvel project, whether on the big screen or in the small format on the streamer Disney+.

The upcoming film will Captain America Saga that moves away from Evans’ Steve Rogers and his World War II-era “fish out of water” story and takes the series in a fresh direction.

In this new Captain America Film, Marvel Studios seems ready to introduce some nostalgic elements into the main MCU program, starting with the 2008 film. Incredible Hulk — the official first film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Although the original Hulk/Bruce Banner actor Edward Norton was quickly replaced by Mark Ruffalo in 2012 The Avengers Due to alleged bad behavior, these classic Marvel properties are finally making a comeback.

With this clear shift towards reviving nostalgia for films made nearly two decades ago and less emphasis on the “new generation” of Marvel heroes, it seems that every Marvel film (and Marvel television product) will now try to stand more clearly on its own merits, rather than in the shoes of the established avenger IP and the larger Marvel Universe.

More to Captain America: Brave New World

In Captain America: Brave New WorldTim Blake Nelson reprises the role of Samuel Sterns, aka “Leader,” a cellular biologist who gains superhuman intelligence after exposure to Bruce Banner’s gamma-irradiated blood. Harrison Ford takes on the role of Thaddeus Ross, now President Ross of the United States (and possibly Red Hulk) who succeeds the late William Hurt. Liv Tyler returns as Betty Ross, a cellular biologist and Banner’s ex-girlfriend.

Although Bucky Barnes, the Winter Soldier, is an integral part of the classic Captain America Movies, he is missing from the cast list, his storyline is postponed to the upcoming Thunderbolts* Film. Mackie’s Wilson will be seen in brand new Captain America attire, alongside the new Falcon, Joaquin Torres, a US Air Force lieutenant who Falcon and the Winter Soldierplayed by Danny Ramirez.

The cast also includes Carl Lumbly as Isaiah Bradley, Shira Haas as Ruth/Sabra, Xosha Roquemore, Seth Rollins, Rosa Salazar and Giancarlo Esposito (but not as the MCU’s new Professor X) in currently unannounced roles.

Led by Kevin Feige, Marvel Studios is increasingly focusing on Hulk-related narratives, with projects like the 2022 Disney+ series She-Hulk: Lawyer and various Incredible Hulk Storylines in Cap 4This focus enables the possibility of World War Hulk Solo film more promising than ever.
