A man previously convicted of robbing a bank while wearing an Iron Man mask is back in prison this week after setting fire to his own semi-trailer at a Florida storage facility.

Lakhram Mahadeo, 36, was charged with second-degree arson and was being held on $25,000 bail on Tuesday, June 11. He was arrested at his dentist’s office in Flagler County, Florida, on Monday, June 10. Mahadeo was released from prison in May 2021 for robbing a Wells Fargo bank while wearing an Iron Man mask.

According to the Daytona Beach News-Journal, on May 17, 2023, firefighters were called to a commercial truck parking lot at 1780 N. State Street in Bunnell, Florida, to extinguish a burning semi-truck. At the same time, police were called to 118 Grand Reserve, where Mahadeo was found with third-degree burns. Mahadeo was flown to a hospital for treatment of his burns and was later identified as the owner of the burning truck.

While investigating the fire, officers found that the windshield of the 2012 Freightliner had been blown out and pieces of the burning truck had struck another truck parked nearby. A 5-gallon water can containing gasoline and accelerant was also found at the scene of the fire. Mahadeo’s debit card showed a transaction for $36 at a gas station 1.5 miles from his home, and his bin code had last been used on May 16. Mahadeo’s clothes that he was wearing on the day of the incident also showed evidence of gasoline.

When asked, Mahadeo told investigators he could not remember that day, but said he may have been performing maintenance on the tractor-trailer. No further information about the incident has been released.
