Prince Harry missed the wedding of his old friend Hugh Grosvenor last week as Prince William attended the event, which was described as the society wedding of the year

Prince Harry did not attend the wedding of his friend Hugh Grosvenor

Prince Harry watched on Friday as his friend and Archie’s godfather got married, but a royal expert said Harry’s “self-imposed exile” was the cause of the situation.

Hugh Grosvenor, one of Britain’s richest men, married Olivia Henson in Chester Cathedral last week. It was the wedding of the year. Numerous members of the royal family were in attendance, including Harry’s brother, Prince William.

However, while William attended the event as an usher, Harry was nowhere to be seen. While some have claimed that Harry and Meghan Markle were “excluded” by the groom, sources close to the Sussexes insist that the Duke himself stayed away from the ceremony, recognizing the “challenges of his attendance.”

Despite these allegations, royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams believes Harry’s failure to attend is further evidence of his poor relationship with William. The expert told Mail Online before the ceremony: “This is the society wedding of the year and under normal circumstances Harry, Meghan and William would all be there.”

“Hugh Grosvenor has impeccable credentials, he is an old friend of Harry’s, godfather to George and Archie and was present at Harry and Meghan’s wedding. The wedding will also be attended by many of their friends who Harry does not see now that he is in America.”

He continued: “This shows that the rift between Harry and William has become a chasm – the situation is clearly terrible. Being in self-imposed exile can be very lonely.” Fitzwilliams then went on to say that this situation was “an example of the price he (Harry) has to pay.”
