Duluth is getting a new place to workout 24 hours a day, as well as some additional amenities like a shake shop and treatment rooms that offer a wide range of services.

The new space is actually part of an expansion of a fitness company that has been offering personal training and fitness classes in the Twin Ports for years, and now it’s time to build a major addition to a new 10,000-square-foot complex that’s slated to open in early 2025.

Located at 4966 Rice Lake Road, just off the intersection with Martin Road, Destination Fitness is owned and operated by Julie and Mike Hendrickson. They have been offering personal training and classes in their current building for years. It has just enough room for one large class and a few rooms for individual sessions, so the expansion will give them significantly more space to offer more fitness and wellness services.

The new building right next to the old one will feature a 3,500 square foot 24-hour gym, a protein shake shop, a new large studio space with high ceilings for the popular aerial classes, locker rooms each with their own saunas, and 6 private treatment rooms for services like massages and facials. They say the old building will continue to offer classes and personal training as well.

Their Facebook page regularly posts construction updates. According to their last update, the exterior walls are up and the interior wall supports are up. It looks like a great space. I’ve had the opportunity to work with Mike and Julie in the past and I’m incredibly happy for them, their family and their staff. And if you ever get the chance to play basketball with Mike, do it. He’s not great and you’ll probably beat him.
