Burn after reading is not a typical spy comedy film and that is what makes it brilliant. This subgenre tends to attract silly romantic comedies like Knight and Day or slapstick parodies like Johnny English, but if you’re looking for a more subtle take on satirical espionage, this new Netflix film is worth watching. Like another Coen brothers film called The Big Lebowski, This is my favorite wacky comedy from the filmmaking duo. It has a twisted plot that spirals into absurdity and a subversive humor that keeps it lighthearted.

Burn after reading follows dim-witted fitness trainers Chad Feldheimer (Brad Pitt) and Linda Litzke (Frances McDormand) as they attempt to sell what they believe to be a misplaced top-secret government dossier to the Russian embassy.
