1. The Golden Galleon, Aldeburgh

The Golden Galleon is one of two fish and chip shops in Aldeburgh run by the same family.

The high street chippy boasts dishes including haddock, cod, plaice and scampi, and has been named one of the best in the UK by the BBC Good Food Guide.

2. Codfellas, Ipswich

Codfellas in Ipswich is one of Ipswich’s best known takeaway restaurants and has won several national awards.

The restaurant on Greenfinch Avenue was named one of the country’s 50 best fish and chip shops in 2023 by Fry Magazine and received a Gold Seal at the Good Food Awards in 2020.

3. Nacton Road Fish Bar, Ipswich

The Nacton Road Fish Bar is another favourite among Ipswich locals.

In 2020, the restaurant won a Good Food Award and was praised by the jury for its delicious fries.

It continues to receive good reviews and currently has a 4.5 star rating on TripAdvisor.

4. The Cod Father, Sudbury

The Codfather has been serving the community of Sudbury since 2000, offering both dine-in and take-out.

The restaurant, on King Street, received a quality award as part of a national scheme to recognise the best fish and chip shops in the UK.

It currently has a rating of 4.5 stars on TripAdvisor from over 500 reviews.

5. Hendo’s, Bury St Edmunds

Open seven days a week, Hendo’s can serve both dine-in and takeaway customers and is a popular spot with the people of Bury St Edmunds.

In 2023, it was named a finalist in the Best Newcomer category at the 2024 National Fish and Chips Awards.
