The Michigan State University men’s basketball program has added former Michigan assistant coach Saddi Washington to its coaching staff.

Washington, who spent the last eight seasons with the Wolverines, is a Lansing native and the son of former Michigan State star Stan Washington.

Michigan State announced Thursday that former Michigan assistant coach Saddi Washington has joined the Spartans coaching staff.

“I am very excited to welcome Saddi to our team and bring him back home to the Lansing area,” Michigan State head coach Tom Izzo said in a statement Thursday. “I have known him since his junior high school days where he had Doug Herner as a teacher and I have had a great relationship with him and his family for a long, long time. Obviously he has some strong ties to Michigan State as his parents and brother are all graduates and his father Stan was one of the greats of our program.”
