Johnny Depp has named the actors he beat in one of his most famous roles.

The Pirates of the Caribbean actor, who has been involved in numerous controversies in recent years, was one of the biggest movie stars of the 1990s and 2000s and played the lead role in numerous films directed by Tim Burton.

In the new docuseries, Depp revealed that he was sure he wouldn’t get the role because “everyone in Hollywood was after that role,” and recalled calling his agent after reading the script and saying, “Please cancel the meeting, I’m not coming.”

The actor said his agent responded, “Are you completely out of your mind?”, adding, “It was weird because there’s always this bastard in your head that says, ‘Come on, man, you’re a TV actor.’ Because back then, it was almost either/or.”
