LOS ANGELES — At the Annecy International Animation Film Festival, Disney Branded Television (DBT) announced a slate of new animation projects focused on preschool content and kid-friendly entertainment. The announcement includes first looks at the highly anticipated films “Disney Jr.’s Ariel” and “Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur: Moon Girl’s Lab,” as well as new information on new seasons of “Big City Greens” and “Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures.”

This year the studio celebrates its 40th anniversary. DBT President Ayo Davis commented on the momentous occasion.

“Disney Branded Television is proud of our four-decade-long tradition of creating magical and visually stunning animation that is loved by young audiences around the world,” said Davis. “It’s a momentous year in Annecy as we celebrate our studio’s anniversary and showcase some of our most exciting new projects and creative talent that will take us into a new era of storytelling.”

Below you will find a list of the new titles and first impressions from Disney Jr. and Disney Television Animation.

New series:

“Preparation & Landing: The Snowball Protocol” (22-minute special)

The high-tech team of elves are back in the latest episode of the Emmy-winning Christmas specials. When their Christmas missions go awry, Wayne thinks he’s in BIG trouble with Santa, which opens up a treasure trove of hilarious mishaps from the past.

“Preparation & Landing: The Snowball Protocol” will premiere next year.

“Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur: Moon Girl’s Laboratory” (short films)

Let these adaptations rock! When the thieving Bone Raider robs the history museum, Moon Girl realizes it’s time to exhibit the Devil Dinosaur’s all-natural evolutions.

Moon Girl drops knowledge and bars and uses the power of science to defeat the bad guys! This new short series is a musical, STEM-focused series that covers topics such as adaptations, states of matter, plans, force and motion, light, echolocation, and coding. The series includes eight short films, each featuring a new song by GRAMMY award-winning artist Raphael Saadiq.

Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur: Moon Girl’s Lab premieres on Friday, June 28 on Disney Channel and Disney Channel YouTube and will be available on Disney+ that day.

“SuperKitties: Sup-Purr Adventures” (short films)

It’s time for a SuperKitties Su-Purr Adventure! Bitsy makes a video on her Kittycorder to demonstrate “how to dress like a SuperKitty” and introduces all of the SuperKitties’ super suits and superpowers.

Inspired by the new #1 preschool series of 2023, “SuperKitties,” this new short series features Bitsy, Sparks, and Buddy as they show off their superhero skills and their feline-friendliness! The trio will work together to make Kittydale a great place to live.

“SuperKitties: Sup-Purr Adventures” premieres Wednesday, August 7 on Disney Jr. and Disney Channel and the next day, Thursday, August 8 on Disney+ and Disney Jr. YouTube.

Series renewals:

“Big City Greens” (season five)

Cricket Green and his family are back for another season of Big City Greens! The series follows the unusual adventures of 10-year-old Cricket Green (voice: Chris Houghton), a mischievous and optimistic country boy who has moved to the big city with his misplaced family. Big City Greens was the second most-watched children’s animated series of 2023.

Big City Greens and their new film Big City Greens the Movie: Spacecation are now streaming on Disney+.

Season two of the hit series has a premiere date!

Viewers can join Kai Brightstar, Lys Solay and Nubs on further adventures across the galaxy on Wednesday, August 14 on Disney+ and Disney Jr.

Disney’s beloved Princess Ariel is back in the brand new Disney Jr. series “Disney Jr.’s Ariel” and we’ve got a first look! The series follows eight-year-old Ariel as she goes on underwater adventures with her mermaid friends, cute sea creatures and beloved characters.

The series premieres on Disney Jr. on Thursday, June 27, with an initial series of eight episodes available on Disney+ the following day.

“Kindergarten: The Musical”

The new Disney Jr. series follows five-year-old Berti as she and her new friends navigate the excitement and emotion of the first day of school. The theme song is performed by GRAMMY Award-winning and Tony Award-nominated singer Eva Noblezada. The series uses Broadway-style songs and dance numbers to express big emotions and let the imagination run wild.

“Kindergarten: The Musical” will premiere later this year on Disney Jr. and Disney+.

The new series follows six over-ambitious middle school students who are tricked by a mad scientist into attending a fake academic summer camp. Now they must spend three months on a wild tropical island with mind-reading manatees, giant fighting mushrooms and fashion-conscious mutants – less academic life than they hoped for, but a lot more adventure.

“StuGo” will premiere this fall on Disney Channel and Disney+.
