Game notes: Kenta Maeda is still trying to turn things around after leaving his last start after throwing just two pitches. Tigers manager AJ Hinch decided to take Maeda out of the game after he showed mild discomfort on the mound and the team eventually announced he had to leave the game due to right side abdominal discomfort. Shortly after, the Tigers announced it was not too serious and Maeda would be on the mound on Tuesday without missing a start.

The Tigers begin their series with the Nationals after avoiding a sweep of the Milwaukee Brewers over the weekend with a 10-2 win on Sunday. After Tuesday’s game, the Tigers will play the Nationals two more times before heading out for a series against the Houston Astros.
