Work continues on the final phases of the Paseo Gateway project at the intersection of Independence Avenue and Paseo Boulevard.

Two subcontractor teams are completing their work this month: one subcontractor will handle landscaping and planting, another will handle paving, walkways, curbs and lighting.

According to one of the contractors on site, work should be completed around the July 4th holiday weekend, weather permitting, after recent delays in the construction of underground utilities.

The Paseo Gateway project, managed by LISC, was launched nearly a decade ago and included the demolition of two motels on the Paseo, the demolition of the Chouteau Courts housing project and the relocation of tenants there to newer housing, and the modernization of the intersection of Independence and Paseo Boulevard.

A Request For Proposal (RFP) for the old Chouteau Courts/Belvedere Park site, soliciting development proposals for the approximately 15-acre site, recently closed on the city’s website. As details of the proposals become available, we will post them here at The Northeast News.
