The Albany Netball Association under 16s team won all of their matches at the Fuel To Go & Play Association Championships in Perth at the weekend to finish first in Division Three.

ANA sent nine teams to the annual three-day tournament, held over the long weekend at the Matthews Netball Centre in Floreat, competing against thousands of players from across the state in wet and windy weather.

After completing their seven group matches with five wins, one draw and one loss, Albany’s 16-man side won the grand final with a superb 24-19 victory over Bunbury Blue.

Star defender Keely Berry was a mainstay in defence and was named Most Valuable Player after fending off countless opposition attacks throughout the tournament. She received excellent support from Natalie Simpson in the back half, forming a dynamic defensive duo.

Winter Proudfoot, Chloe Slimie and Hayley Poet ran tirelessly through midfield, driving their attacks with accurate shooters Courtney White and Sophie Panizza, while Hollie Jackman and Ellie McTavish were reliable contributors when coming off the bench.
